How is this different than conventional saunas?

Hot box type saunas work through indirect heating. Your skin must absorb energy from the surrounding super heated air and transfer it internally, a very inefficient process.

Infrared energy released by a our Sauna can penetrate up to 1.5" into muscle tissue. It is estimated that 93% of this energy is absorbed directly through our skin. By internally and gently heating tissues, we experience a vasodilatation of peripheral blood vessels which can be beneficial in reducing muscle spasms, joint stiffness, aches and swelling. This treatment is beneficial in treating pain due to conditions such as Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis.

There is also evidence that when used 24-48 hours post injury, far infrared energy can reduce healing time of sprains and strains. In many cases it may help to reduce pain and localized swelling. (NOTE: Acute joint injury should not be heated within the first 48 hours, or until the joint erythema and swelling subsides.)

Joint Conditions: An acute joint injury should not be heated within the first 48 hours, or until the joint erythema and swelling subsides.

Pregnancy: When pregnant, it is recommended to discontinue use of infrared saunas immediately.
